Filter fabric is a tough material made from polypropylene by needle punching and thermal treatment. This filter fabric, used especially in earthworks, is designed for various purposes. It replaces aggregate between construction layers in earthworks and hydraulic engineering.
Filter fabric lets air and water through very well while preventing different soil materials from mixing with each other. For example, it stops subsoil and gravel from mixing. It also filters water effectively, preventing finer soil from migrating into coarser soil structures.
Filter fabric is also very useful for erosion control, especially on embankments, verges, slopes and shores.
